Bromanced with "I Love You, Man"

Oh man, I cannot believe I have let this movie be unwatched for such a long time. It was on the movie network earlier today and I needed to watch it! Everyone has suggested me to watch it, from my best friend to even my sister. I mean, it is a movie about a man needing to find a best man for his wedding. How bro-tacular is that? It stars Jason Segel, Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones. And I know he isn't a major actor in this movie, but Jon Favreau!. Not entirely sure why Jon is amazing, but I think he is fantastic.
Click more for why bros are so amazing, oh and my take on the movie.

The story takes place when Peter (Rudd) is about to get married to his wife to be, Zooey (Jones), and he is in need to find a best man. He realizes that he has no close guy friends and has always been a 'girlfriend guy', AKA a man whore. He finds Sydney (Segel) at an open house and they have a blast right off the bat. The friendship evolves and really shows that opposites attract. Peter is a straight arrow, by the book kind of guy. Where as Sydney is a let loose, enjoy life by the day kind of guy. Their relationship is amazing and I love it. I can totally relate to my best bro-friend and reflect on why the rule "bros before hoes" always applies!

There isn't much to hate on this movie. I think everything was done fine and dandy. It is a romantic comedy and so it follows the basic formula for romantic comedies so there really isn't anything new or innovating in this movie. Expect the fact that I think most of the romantic part of this movie is between the two bros and less on the marriage, but that is debatable.

What I did like about this movie was everything else. It was a funny movie, I mean one of the funniest in a long time. I caught myself laughing throughout the movie and it wasn't just on one character but everyone. My favourite moment of the whole movie was the montage with Peter and Sydney bonding and bro-ing it out. Especially 'cause it had Tom Sawyer by Rush playing in the background. There were even scenes with the two singing parts of the song and the drum solo. I know there are other authors on this site that hate Rush, but I thought this part was well done. Also Jon Faveau had a small part in this movie, but he was the husband of one of Zooey's friends. And he was just rude and stone cold with Peter, and for whatever reason it was funny and I enjoyed it a lot. Because I think we all have that a-hole of a person we need to be friends with and we hate with a passion.

Overall, this movie was a blast to watch. I would love to see this movie again with my bro-friend and just laugh about it. Also, if Jason Segel is reading this, I would love to bro it out with you. You know, drink some beers and watch a football game or something.

  2. Great movie. I can easily see this film creating Rush fans as well, given the extensive time Rush is somehow involved in the movie.
