I will try to keep this entry as short as possible, because I want you folks to watch this documentary. It'll give a little bit more information than I can offer. The documentary started off by addressing the obvious drawbacks of bottle water such as; pollution, health risks and damages to local ecosystems. But then the documentary ramps up and brings problems I was unaware off, such as these bottle water companies taking ground water from small towns and paying almost nothing to compensate. They even pumped water during the drought that covered most of America during 2007. Secondly, the actual chemicals that are in the plastic that cause serious health defects that were listed was astonishing. I know that everything nowadays gives you cancer, but I want to limit things that give me cancer on a daily basis. Lastly, the most shocking thing was the amount of plastic is being recycled (or more accurately, not being recycled) and who has to pay for it. Most of the time the government has to pay for the recycling of all the bottle water. Just amazing how much harm a small bottle of water can do.
Besides those points, the movie is fairly informative and isn't too biased. They do have interviews with reps of the bottle companies, though a lot declined an interview for the movie, no wonder why. There wasn't a lot of "using emotion to persuade" which is obviously good and the movie was short and to the point. The movie was only an hour and fifteen minutes long so it does not take a lot out of your time, giving you more the reason to watch it.
Anyways, I am going to stop talking about it here. I want you all to watch this movie and really learn about the harm of bottled water. It is available on Netflix so it cannot be hard to get a hold of. In the meantime I want you all to visit: www.tappedthemovie.com and learn a little bit. For me, I think I am done with bottled water.
