I am finally wrapping up my mini series: Terrible Sci-Fi Movies on a Budget. Thank GOD! Oh man that was painful, trust me. Now the last movie is: Final Days of Planet Earth. Man that sounds like a cheesy late 50's Sci-Fi movie, what a stupid name. Let alone the title is stupid, are you looking at that horrid DVD cover? *barf* And if you are asking, yes that is Darryl Hannah, yep the same one from Kill Bill. Look what a few years can do to your career. First you are making amazing fight scenes with Uma Thurman, the next moment you are acting some cheesy role in some straight to TV movie. More after the jump.
Oh if you folks were curious, yes this movie was almost three hours long and with two parts. Like people are actually going to be interested in coming back to watch the last part of the movie. You know what is the sad part, if they just showed the last part of this movie, it would not be so bad. I mean the 'intro' to this movie was long and dreadful, and just lasted way to long. I understand you want the viewers to get the plot of the movie, but damn we aren't stupid. The last hour of the movie was pretty intense and the pacing picked up so it kept me on my feet, but the whole middle hour was full of WTF's and how the hell did they get there? The editing was poor and could of trimmed a lot off to fit this movie in 2 hours, easily.
Let me tell you about this amazing story. It starts off with a bunch of astronauts who are traveling back from the Moon. The commanding officer wakes up with all his other friends not to been seen anywhere, as he further explores and sees that there was a breach and something has killed all his friends. We than later find a group of randoms in room 68 at city hall waiting to get their problems solved. They later found out that room 68 is code for, YOU ARE ALL DEAD. Seriously, they find out that these "Astronauts" have come back to Earth to take over a little city and they are all running the city hall. P.S if you don't know by now, the Astronauts are just Praying Mantis Aliens that use the Astronaut skin to disguise themselves. So these random folks are set forward to stop the evil bug aliens from taking over the world. And the rest of the story follows every simple stupid story line. They all hate each other, than bond, than admire themselves, and as the just start to admire themselves, a few die. They cry and blah blah blah. They find the weakness of the aliens, exploit it and win to save the world with minutes to spare. The two main characters fall in love and live happily ever after. It isn't inspiring.
There really isn't much to say about this movie; the acting, story and screenplay were a notch below average. I only really started to like this movie at the last hour and the first two hours was a snoozefest. Overall, the movie is kinda interesting, but mostly stupid and best avoid watching this movie.
Oh and it is still better than The Happening
Where did you find this movie? Lol. Thanks for the read.
