Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Alright, so I got around to watch the final episode of “Star Wars Episode 6: Return of the Jedi”. Now I’ve heard from a lot of people which includes you too Neil, that the second movie is the best of the three. I did lower my expectations for this movie a little, but still wanted nothing less than amazing. Hit the jump to see how it turned out.

I felt this movie focused a lot more on the story and therefore felt like it had less action. Even though now that I reflect, it might have had as much or even more action then the prior two. But nonetheless, there were a lot of story content in this movie, this at all is not a bad thing because let’s face it the story is amazing. I was shocked at a few moments, which were: that Yoda died, Admiral Akabar said “It’s a trap" only once, and no one mentions about the incestuous behaviour between Luke and Leia in the first movie. For Billy-Bob’s sake, that shit doesn’t fly by me but it doesn't really hurt the movie at all, just a funny side note.

Think a bunch of Ewoks can take down Indy, err Solo.

Anyways I would also like to bring up the issues of the Ewoks, I hear that many folks do not like them. I think they are awesome. They are little trolls; they seem to annoy more than do damages. But that with that said, they did take down a quite big storm trooper army. Also, why does it seem that storm troopers are weaker than I thought they were? To stay on topic of weak things, the ending was kind of lame. The build up to the finale was good and exhilarating, but that ending was so predictable. The 15 head turns Vader does whilst Luke is getting shocked to death was a huge give away. But I guess it was for dramatic purposes, though still it doesn’t take away from the entire story of it.

But all those were real small complaints, the movie was so awesome. It did not disappoint me at all; it felt good and filled my needs. It tied the story up good, with the adequate amounts of action scenes and just the charm of the characters won me over. I still think Han, and the two broids (bro and droids) were my favourite in the series, they were just fun to watch and their interactions were awesome. Especially when Han tells Leia “I love you”, and she response with an “I know”. Just great! I loved the final fight scene with Luke and Vader, it was intense and was well choreographed, there were times I doubted myself that Luke would prevail.

I'd let her chain me up, if you know what I mean.

Anyways, I can go on and on about why this movie is amazing. But to keep this blog entry short and sweet, I loved the movie and the series. I cannot believe it took me soo long to see this, I am quite the fool. So there be it, I am done watching the Star Wars trilogy, now I debate what trilogy I shall watch next, but I will want to keep the sci-fi theme going.

  2. @Wesley I was actually favouring that movie the most, and now that you said it. I have no choice :)

  3. I think the explanation about Leia's and Luke's relationship in the first film is that they didn't really think they'd be able to make the other films so there was a bit of winging it in terms of the plot.
