Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Another day, another episode of Star Wars, and obviously I watched "Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back". I now understand the amazement of Star Wars; I was a fool to not have watched these earlier. They are simply amazing in every way. And yes I was extremely happy when I heard Vader telling Luke that he was his father, and I was waiting for that this whole movie. There were a lot of things I saw that made this movie feel so good. Read about it after the jump.

A lot of my compliments from "A New Hope" were not in this movie. The light sabre fight with Luke and Vader was epic; I was on the edge of my sofa the whole fight. I thought that Luke’s force came in HANDY when he really needed it. And because I knew even less about the story in this one, it made the story even better. Overall, I had absolutely no complaints in this movie.

" No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try. "

There were too many examples of why this movie is so awesome. Firstly, the new characters that come in the second movie were great. Now we get to meet Yoda, Lando (Billy Dee Williams, who I know as Harvey Dent from the 1989 Batman) and good ol’ Boba Fett. I was getting worried when he would arrive in the series. I was also glad to see how Luke progresses as he learns to control the force with Yoda. All in all I really like the characters that were introduced and even more the characters that reoccured in the franchise, such as Han Solo. Man Han is such a badass in this film, not only does he fly the Millennium Falcon, but his right hand man is best described by C3PO, as a “flea-bitten furball … an overgrown mop-head”. He also stares Vader in the eyes and takes death face first, now that man has balls of steel. And yes, I still love the robotic duo of CP3O and R2-D2.

What I really found funny was the reoccurring joke about the Millennium Falcon being a hunk of junk, yet be good enough to out fly any of the Empires’ battle ships, when it works properly. And the joke how the Hyper drive is always broken when they need it the most. That is another thing that I love in this movie, the sense of humour in this flick is great. It isn’t rolling on the floor laughing, but it is quite amusing and welcome. Especially the reactions and pretty much all the words that come out of C3PO's mouth. There were even a few points of the movie where the background music would start up and I would start to hum the theme to Indiana Jones. Wrong Ford movie, I know.

Not your typical Father/Son bonding moment.

I really am speechless on how much I loved this movie, I cannot wait for the finale of the series. If it isn’t amazing, I won’t be too happy. I expect it to be better than the second movie. But we shall see won't I. And before I end this blog, I hear Leia shout “It’s a Trap”, WHEN DO I GET TO HEAR ADMIRAL ACKBAR SAY THIS!? I guess in Return of the Jedi, ughh I hate waiting.

P.S All compliments of my corny jokes can be emailed to: 127.0.0.1@gmail.com

  1. My favorite part is when Leia says she loves Han, and his reply is simply "I know." hahaha, SO BADASS!

  2. I think it's pretty general consensus that The Empire Strikes Back is the best of the original trilogy. Despite that fact, I expect you'll enjoy the final film. The beginning is pretty badass.
