Okay so I cheated today, not sure if this is a movie or a TV series, but I consider it a movie. Today's movie was rather short and sweet, but does not lack in amazement. This movie was recommended by one of my close friends (yes it is possible for me to watch a movie that was recommended from a person who I didn’t sleep with) and I did have some doubts as this movie is a musical. But I did give it a shot because it does have the amazing Neil Patrick Harris, gorgeous Felica Day and striking Nathan Fillion. It was also directed by the infamous Joss Whedon. As you can see this movie is full of cast that makes my inner nerd tingle hard. Read on more after the jump.
Not sure what is the best way to portray how amazing this movie is to you. It is a bucket full of fun; amazing cast, simple but good story, witty comedy and amazing music, there isn’t much to not like. The musical part did turn me off at first, but I quickly got over it when I heard the songs, which is amazing. Most of the songs are sung by Billy/Dr. Horrible (Harris) and Penny (Day), but Captain Hammer (Fillion) does have a few songs. They are all done amazingly and are quite addicting, even for a guy who listens to mainly rock/metal.
The story is short and simple: Billy loves Penny, but he never does have the courage to talk to her. She is swept off her feet by Capt. Hammer, who is also Dr. Horribles arch nemesis, and they go dating. Billy is now jealous and decides he needs to eliminate Capt. Hammer to win Penny back. It is a cute story and the characters fit the story perfectly. You almost cheer on for the evil doer, Dr. Horrible because he does feel like a good guy in this movie.
The only thing about this movie that feels wrong is that it is too short. I wish this TV series/movie was longer. But all good things come in small packages. Overall I thought this movie was fun and entertaining. Now go and watch it!
I loved this "movie"... thought it was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this also. I normally do not like movies with a lot of singing in them, but I have watched this about 4 times and still like it just as much.
