Finale: Bourne Ultimatum

So I finished off this amazing trilogy, easily my favourite complete trilogy of the year. Yes I enjoyed this as much as Star Wars, maybe even a little bit more. But it was by far one of the most consistent trilogies of the year. And again, god damn Matt Damon is so awesome! But let’s cut to the chase.

This movie wastes no time getting into the action. We are dropped in near the ending of second movie. Bourne is running away from the Russian cops after he killed an assassin. But there is no more hiding with Bourne, now he is doing the hunting. He's trying to find out who he actually is and why he is been forced down this path of killing. Yet again, the CIA is after him and his source. Now we have a race between the greatest spy known to mankind and his creator.

Yep, even the motorcycle chase is epic.

Now when I say this movie starts off right after the second movie, I do not exaggerate. It is amazing how quickly this movie gets intense; I think the first 30 minutes I was just glued to the screen in amazement. Also, the last scene of Supremacy is actually near the end of Ultimatum, but no biggie. But back to the topic of the intensity of this movie, there was no low point. It was just chase scene after fight scene after more chase scenes after more fight scenes after … well you get the point.

To get real specific, the best action scene of all of this was the hand-on-hand fight scene in Tunisia. There was no background music, not a lot of that annoying shakey cam or ridiculous camera angles. It was an amazing fist to fist fight, a great climax to a seriously good chase scene. Oh did I tell you that this came after a chase scene that occurred on rooftops? Yep, Bourne was jumping over roofs, into windows and hopping from balcony to balcony. The stunts were epic and really entertaining to watch.

An unusual team, but it works.

Even though the action was stellar, I have to note down the story was tied at the end really well. All the loose ends were tied and I was satisfied with the outcome of the story. Also, the drama occurring in the CIA with the two sides, just great. Just like the action it was intense and entertaining. It wasn’t your typical 24 hokius pokius.

There isn’t more I can say about this movie, it just great. The whole series was fantastic and one of my favourites. It was filled with thrilling action, fun spy moments and a great backbone movie. So if you haven’t seen it, go check it out. But make sure you start from Identity, don’t wanna miss out on anything great.
