Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)

Originally I had planned on watching a different movie today, but after yesterday's success with Hellraiser, and a night filled with dreams, nightmares, and images from the movie, I knew I had to watch Hellbound: Hellraiser II today! None of the movies I've seen his month had the effect on me like Hellraiser did. I wasn't sure what to expect with the sequel, but I had heard some people actually liked it more. This did, however, mean my expectations were raised (no pun intended), while they were possibly lowered before yesterday's viewing. Can the sequel that came out only 1 year later really be better than the original? Jump into Hell with me and we'll find out!

More fun with "Evil Dead 2" (1987)

I saw “Evil Dead” back in August and was thinking I should see the complete trilogy right away. But knowing that October was around the corner, I decided to wait. Now that I’ve finally seen the second movie I can now truly understand the amazement of Bruce Campbell.  That man is a God in all sense, but more on him later. Oddly enough, I still wasn’t sure what this movie would entail. It would be only foolish to assume that the sequel is just like the first movie. So after the jump I kindly explain to you how much I enjoyed "Evil Dead 2"

Exploring Pain with Hellraiser (1987)

Today I decided to finally experience one of the last big iconic horror movies: Hellraiser. If I'm honest with myself, I really wasn't in the mood for yet another horror movie. I've really been starting to feel the weight of almost only horror movies all month long. But there's only a few days left that I can actually pick what I'm going to watch, and I wanted to make sure I had this one under my belt before it was all over. I figured it would be yet another slasher movie, with a demonic twist, maybe something like Nightmare on Elm Street. Turns out that's really not what it was like at all. Hit the jump for the full scoop!

Force Fed Films: "Night of the Living Dead" (1968)

Jim was wary of making me watch the original “Night of the Living Dead” for the sole reason that I prefer the fast zombies over slow zombies. But there is one key part of slow zombies, and that is the movie is a lot more predator vs. prey and less Rambo action scenes. And I hate to admit it, but these movies are usually a bit more horrific. But I never had an interest of seeing the original George Romero film because I fear I would be bored with the slow pace and not so impressive movie quality. Hit the jump to read my thoughts.

Fear Revisited: [REC] 2 (2009)

After seeing a few old classics, I decided to indulge myself on something more recent. Specifically, a movie I've been wanting to see for years, and have been saving all year for this month. The sequel to one of my most favorite zombie movies of all time, [REC] 2. For those of you who don't know the story of the first film, it documents the very start of a zombie outbreak in a single apartment building. A TV reporter tags along with a firefighter crew into the building, and we see all hell break loose from what seems to be the very first case. And all from the camera they're carrying around with them! It was completely awesome in every way for a zombie fan like myself! Now, for the sequel. So is it good, or did they ruin a great new zombie franchise? Hit the jump to find out!

Reader Recommendations: The Evil Dead (1981)

A close friend of mine decided that I haven’t lived a fulfilling life because I haven’t seen “The Evil Dead”. And after watching this movie, it is sort of surprising I’ve never even heard about this movie before. 80’s zombie horror flick seems like the right choice for me. But any who I was for warned expect a lot of cheesiness (like as if that was a bad thing) and enjoy the underlying humour. God this sounds like a movie that was made just for my enjoyment. But see if I actually enjoyed it after the jump.

Rammbock: Berlin Undead (2010)

I heard about this movie a few weeks ago, and being a massive fan of zombie movies, I had to give it a watch. Rammbock: Berlin Undead is a zombie movie set in Germany. I haven't seen many zombie movies from around the world, although I know they must exist. REC is a good example, and that was remade into the English version Quarantine. Hit the jump to see if this can live up to the zombie movies of the past.

Survival of the Dead (2009)

Today I decided to watch the most recent of George A. Romero's zombie movies: Survival of the Dead. I'm pretty sure I've seen all of his other movies, even the 1985 Day of the Dead, with Bub the zombie! George A. Romero is largely credited as being the "Godfather" of the modern zombie, or at least that was before they once again evolved into their faster versions with the remake of Dawn of the Dead in 2004. He continues his own zombie series here, sticking to the ground rules he laid out so very long ago. So did the dead rise again with this latest film, or did it just rot in the ground? Hit the jump to find out! Don't worry, no gore is on the other side!

Poll Position: Versus

“Versus” was the kung-fu themed poll winner, and I heard that there were some fine folks out there might have rigged the poll. But that is all right, it’s the fun in having a poll, we knew that eventually a few of you would band together and rig the poll to go one way. And not surprisingly you rigged it so the ‘worst’ movie would win. Now I really don’t mind watching terrible movies, I actually find it fun at times, I just hope Jim opens up and enjoys the movie for what’s worth. Anyways, click more to find out what I actually thought of this movie.

Poll Position: Versus (2000)

Last week's poll was won by the often panned yet somehow cult favorite Versus. Looking up reviews for this movie, you'll find quite a few positive opinions on it and I actually found it on a list of best martial arts movies when looking up possible candidates for the poll. Almost everyone I know, however, has told me this is one of the worst movies they've ever seen. It doesn't really have a story, just that in a particular forest people come back to life, and a bad guy is trying to make a sacrifice to open the portal to the afterlife and receive it's dark power. So did I end up hating Versus or finding the underlying cult charm? Hit the jump to find out!
